Curb Gag

Trust curbgag single jointed locked. This bit has the same concept as a gag, with the difference that this bit exerts more pressure under the chin. The mouthpiece has sweet iron parts. Sweet iron has the property that it easily rusts and therefore has a sweet taste. A horse will therefore accept the bit more easily and produce more saliva. A locked bit can only bend to a certain point, so that the so-called 'nutcracker' effect, like a normal single-jointed bit, is not possible. This bit therefore gives less pressure on the layers, and also gives less pressure on the tongue and is therefore suitable for the 'tongue-sensitive' horses.

Trust inno sense curbgag port. The Trust ported Curb Gag is a gag bit, but with a very different effect. On a normal gag the gag ropes are attached to the cheek pieces. The curb gag has an extra ring that is attached on top of the bit ring and to the cheek pieces. The gag ropes go through the eyes of the bit, but then they join underneath the chin instead of being attached to the bridle. Pressure on the reins will give extra pressure on the lower jaw/chin.

The synthetic ported mouthpiece is ergonomically shaped to allow space for the horse's tongue, and is available in medium or hard.

Trust curb gag jointed. The Blue Sweet Iron Curb Gag from Trust Equestrian has a sliding rope action on the cheekpieces, which applies pressure to the horse's curb groove via a leather pad, rather than the strong poll pressure applied with a conventional gag bit. There is still some mild poll pressure, as the top ring acts in a similar way to a hanging cheek snaffle. Meanwhile the blue sweet iron mouthpiece with a single joint is designed to produce salivation and help the horse to accept the bit and comfortably relax his jaw. The mouthpiece is curved, which distributes pressure more evenly over the tongue and bars. The offset centre link reduces the nutcracker action and pressure points on the tongue. It can be used with 2 reins, so the curb pressure only comes into play when needed.

Meanwhile the blue sweet iron eliptical mouthpiece is designed to produce salivation and help the horse to accept the bit and comfortable relax his jaw. The double joint reduces the nutcracker action, as the bit stays in a curved shape, following the contours of the horse's mouth. Therefore the bar and palette pressure associated with single-jointed bits is removed. It can be used with two reins, so the curb pressure only comes into play when it is really needed.

The core of the bit is made of reinforced nylon. The leather that is stitched around this core, is naturally tanned without chemicals. The saliva production softens the leather bit and makes it more pleasant for the horse. The flexible mechanism in combination with the taste of the leather, makes the bit particularly suitable for horses with a sensitive mouth.
